ICPAC re-engineers climate resilience on Google Cloud

The challenge

ICPAC faced severe outage risks from power/internet disruptions, manual release bottlenecks, and security gaps. Relying on over provisioned VMs, high traffic spikes led to performance issues and rising costs, stalling their ability to deliver timely, lifesaving climate alerts to 11 nations.

The solution

Incentro Africa modernised ICPAC’s setup by migrating monoliths to micro services on Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) and Cloud Run for automated CI/CD. We implemented Cloud Storage and BigQuery for analytics, secured systems via zero-trust custom service accounts, and automated deployment pipelines for 24/7 reliability.

The result

Data processing times dropped 90%, cutting eight-hour tasks to 30 minutes for faster early warnings. Event-based scaling rightsised resources to slash cloud costs by 40%. The zero-trust, automated architecture eliminated deployment errors and service disruptions, establishing a secure 24/7 backbone for 11 nations.
